Om alle Motocross (MC) en Geländesport (GS) motorfietsen te beschrijven is een bijna onmogelijke zaak. Per jaar werd er van beiden uitvoering en van de diverse cilinderinhouden wel één model uitgebracht. Alles optellend kom je tot meer dan 100 modellen.

Vanaf het midden '70-
Bij de modellen met een naam staat dus nooit de aanvulling "MC" erbij. Dat is wel weer op de Enduro modellen van toepassing. Bijvoorbeld
een 250 cc enduromachine uit 1980 heet dan voluit : MAICO Mega 250 GS.
Het lettertype waarmee destijds de naam en het model werd geschreven heet "Arial Black"; is vet gedrukt en cursief gesteld.
Tot en met 1988 hebben de modellen dus namen. Daarna (vanuit Merkle) krijgen ze weer de MC en GS aanduiding tot en met 1994.
Bij Rodem begint men in 1996 weer anders. De crosser heet da RC en de enduro RE. Herleid van Rodem Cross of Rodem Enduro. Tijdens de periode "Rodem / Nederland" wordt in 1999 de aanduiding opnieuw veranderd naar AC en AE (Axel Cross en Axel Enduro). Dit komt weer voort uit het belang van Axel Köstler uit Leverkusen.
